Professional Profile

I am a Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist registered with the Association of Child Psychotherapists (ACP).

Currently, I work with children, adolescents and their families during transition and facing challenges in childhood and adolescence within private practice and at West London CAMHS NHS Trust as Head of Child Psychotherapy. I also teach at the Tavistock Clinic.

My background

I gained my BSc Hons in Psychology from the University of Leicester in 1995. Whilst working in an adolescent therapeutic community, I went on to complete a Masters in 'Psychoanalytic Observational Studies' at The Tavistock Clinic in London. This sparked my special interest in working with adolescents.  I then went on to complete DPsychPsych in “Clinical Training in Child and Adolescent Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy” in 2007 at the Tavistock Clinic while working in a Child and Adolescent Mental Health (CAMHS) clinic in Buckinghamshire.

My career continued in West London CAMHS NHS seeing young people and their families for a wide range of difficulties such as anxiety, low-mood, phobias, eating difficulties and adoption. When I meet families and go through the assessment process, I am privileged to hear about their joy and struggles from the pregnancy to the current day. It is my experience that difficulties tend to arise as a normal reaction to challenging life events and I feel strongly that at the right point in time, talking approaches can do much to alleviate distress and help gain insight to inform choices.

My Approach

I describe myself as a Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist drawing on different approaches such as Narrative Therapy, Interpersonal Therapy for Adolescents (IPT-A), Mindfulness and Mentalization.
