Professional Profile:

Hello, my name is Kevin. I am a psychotherapist, counsellor and Cognitive Behaviour Therapist offering counselling in the North London area and online.

As a practicing therapist with more than thirty year's experience, I've helped many people from different backgrounds and I work with a range of therapies depending on what is best for the client.

At times life can throw at us more than we are able make sense of. This can affect you and your relationships, whether at work or in your personal life and a loss of self-confidence can lead to some critical, negative thinking. Then you begin to see how you are thinking and behaving in a way you don't like - in the same 'old situation' - feeling both anxious and stressed. You know you don't want to be there, yet somehow it's happened again.

Therapy can help when you do get stuck, caught up in a negative pattern of relating. It allows you to speak about things that you have probably been keeping under wraps for quite some time. But once you share what is troubling you and gain an understanding and perspective on what’s going on, then it becomes possible to think about how you can address things in a different way.

Perhaps it’s time to take that first step and get in touch if you're feeling stuck and want to get on with your life? Therapy helps you understand the issues you are facing, see them in a different light and discover there is another way forward.

Therapies Offered

  • Phenomenological and Person-Centred - We take your experience and understanding as the beginning of our exploration and journey together.
  • Existential - Addresses the important issues and decisions you are facing.
  • Psychodynamic - Helps you see how past relationships can have a real influence on your relationships now.
  • Solution focused - Thinks about strategies using Cognitive Behaviour Therapy that will help you move forward and make positive changes in your life.

Specialisms:

Counselling almost always starts with the ‘problem’ or symptom – feeling anxious and stressed, panic attacks, not sleeping well, self-medicating with drugs or alcohol, thinking negatively about yourself, obsessing about things, procrastinating, often feeling tired and a myriad other ways of describing what is troubling you. But underneath this unhappiness there is also what I sometimes call an emotional or 'subjective logic'.

What is it that keeps you in a relationship that is not working, why do you keep obsessing or going on about certain things, what’s making you very anxious at times or angry, why are you so critical of yourself and often feel you must do more than you need to, and end up sliding into those feelings of depression and low self-esteem?

It is these subjective 'logics' or tendencies, which you can then explore in counselling. And it is by exploring them and understanding what is going on that paves the way for making real changes in your life.
